Welcome to European Ivy League
The European Ivy League (EIL) is the leading Business School Soccer Tournament in Europe. It is HHL’s largest student initiative with more than 20 HHL students organizing the event. Over the course of time, since its foundation back in 1997, the EIL has grown and increased its fan base every year and eventually reached a number of over 360 participants in 2011. In past events the EIL had the honor to welcome several famous patrons from the German soccer scene, such as Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder, Jürgen Klinsmann and Rainer Calmund.
The formula of EIL’s success is its combination of sports, networking and entertainment. The cornerstone of the event is a thrilling soccer competition for men and women as well as a cheerleading contest. Additionally the EIL offers unique chances to expand business networks. Renowned companies such as BASF, PwC or Roland Berger have supported this event as sponsors and also participate in the soccer competition. The event therefore represents an excellent platform for exchange with company representatives. Last but not least the EIL is the homecoming of many Alumni, the welcoming of friends and simply the best party of the year.
The 16th edition of the EIL will take place from 18th - 20th May 2012 in Leipzig. We are looking forward to welcoming all participants, companies and guests in Leipzig for 3 amazing days full of soccer, business and fun.
The Tournament
EIL is a soccer tournament, where you are encouraged to participate with a soccer team and compete against other schools from different European countries. We offer a competition for male and female teams. The general requirements for a soccer team are:
- 5 players (including goalkeeper)
- up to 3 substitutes.
The soccer matches are carried out in an indoor soccer arena on small courts. The arena holds nine courts in total so that we are able to run several matches at one time. Moreover, we offer a cheerleading competition where the best team can also win a trophy! So, bring it on and be a part of it!
You can participate in the following ways:
Allstar Teams
Every year, several companies decide to join the tournament with their own soccer teams. This year students from all over Europe get the unique chance to become an Allstar by forming a team with the companies Stern Stewart & Co., Ernst& Young or Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. You get the unique chance to get to know the company representatives in a relaxed atmosphere and convince them with your skills on the court and besides.
University Teams
Students from business schools and universities around Europe are invited to participate with a male or female team in our soccer tournament or cheerleading competition.
HHL Alumni Teams
HHL Alumni teams are welcome to join the tournament for coming back to their alma mater, meeting old friends and making new ones.
Cheerleading Teams
If you want your school soccer team to win, you need to support them! Therefore you should bring your own cheerleading team along. Of course, cheerleading teams don't have to be all-girls, we encourage guys in the right outfit to participate as well :) No restrictions on the number of team members - the more, the merrier!
Supporters
If you are not a sports maniac and just want to travel along with your team you are welcome to register as supporter. The number of supporters per team is not limited and your are also welcome to apply for job and internship intereviews will offer during the event.
Party
Those who just want to join the party can register for a party ticket only. Please note that this ticket option is mainly for HHL students and alumni who don't need to be accommodated by the organization team.
Networking & Recruiting
All interested students are also invited to apply for internship or job interviews during the 16th European Ivy League. On Friday afternoon the consulting companies Stern Stewart & Co., PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants as well as the perfume online-shop Flaconi will offer on-campus interviews.
Another highlight on Friday afternoon will be the workshop brought to you by trivago, the largest hotel price comparison website worldwide. The internet start-up will organize a workshop on ‘Entrepreneurial Decision Taking’ to which everybody is cordially invited.
